Abstract
We investigate how the behaviour, especially at ±infty, of continuous real solutions f(t) to the equation f(t) = a1 f(t+h1) + a2 f(t-h2), where a1, a2, h1, h2 are positive real constants, depends on the values of these parameters. Definitive answers are given, except in certain cases when h1/h2 is rational.
